Flower Cup Holder Liner or Coaster Free Crochet Pattern

One day, I just needed to keep my hands moving and I had this small bin of cotton so I started making these flowers. We went on a road trip and I made about 5 of them, stacked them in the cup holder and realized the size was perfect. The cup holder liner (or car coaster) was born. I have so much cotton yarn and this is only what I had set aside to make Toddler Frisbees.Cotton

Believe it or not, a LOT of designs are happy ‘accidents' or birthed from fidgeting. I normally stuff paper towels in there to absorb condensation or make it easier to clean the dust out. Dust and hair always seems to collect in there. Yuck! So, for this particular flower, I used an H-hook with 100% cotton yarn and followed the pattern for the flower.

I love the whole idea of these pretty flowers as cup holder liners! I don't drive due to illness, but get rides from family to doctor appointments and use them in THEIR cup holders before I put my travel mug on there! I've been carrying a coaster or two with me for a few years now to put under my coffee cups in public offices and private homes out of courtesy. Now I get to show respect for others property in the car too! Thank you! Do you realize that these resemble pansies? I know the shape isn't truly a Pansy , but the yellow and blue ones with your use of color strongly reassemble the beautiful Pansy... A flower I've been searching everywhere for in the crochet community! I wanted a large Pansy, not the lovely tiny ones I've discovered patterns for, as I wanted to use them a coasters. I made a purple, yellow and 2 blue flower cup-holder liners and they so closely reassemble the color patterning of a pansy that I feel all warm and fuzzy just staring at them! I need to see them wherever I am, so I toss them on my night stand (I'm mostly bedridden here) with some other flower motifs and it looks like windblown flowers! When I need a coaster or two I have lovely crocheted flowers gracing my nightstand! Thank you for sharing your creativity!

Now, embarrassing as it is.. Yes, I have made 4 of these flowers, and couldn't find where I'd seen the pattern..I couldn't post a picture of them without proper credit for and link to the flower's creator and pattern. I just found them again and immediately knew your work from your Caroline creations! Love this too! The problem is that no matter where I click on this page I cannot find the pattern for the flowers.... Heh heh... Um.. Can you help me please? ????

Thank you so much for your kind words! I absolutely love the idea. You know, I did think of pansies after I made them so I'm glad you saw that abstract pansy as well. hehe You've confirmed for me that I should copy and paste the pattern into that post! I'll do it the next time I get on a laptop. Nonetheless, you may find it here: https://simplycollectiblecrochet.com/2014/03/free-pattern-easy-crochet-flower-headband/

This is such a great idea! I usually shove napkins or paper towels in ours too. With 4 kids and their juice, not to mention me and hubby's coffees, our cup holders are always a mess! I can't wait to make some, plus some spares for switching out while the dirty ones get washed!
