“I LOVE LOVE LOVE this pattern! Just under 2 hours and wahla….DONE! SUPER easy, SUPER cute!!!”
– Emma McCann
“Best hat ever. I am in love with this!! I made the infant in brown, baby in yellow, now I’m making the child in red to look like a Raggedy Ann wig!!” – Christina Bellmay
“I printed this one off yesterday, already have 3 hats ready to be finished off. Much easier than others I've tried! Thank you!!! I like the hdc so much better. Your increases in the first few rows are so simple to memorize, and yours was the first pattern, after looking at several, that clearly shows how to add the bangs & ponys! I tried another with the loop stitch and wasn't happy with the results, looked uneven and took to much time.
( I've been crocheting for over 45 yrs. )” – Janet Ruth Neumann Weidner

Prep Bangs:
Wrap the yarn around your fingers (56xs), cut yarn from skein, and cut them only once. Make 56 strands approx. 4” long. Note: Pattern uses 53 so you will have extra in case you want them for shaping or tying the tassels.
Prep Pigtails: Go around your arm 35xs, cut yarn from skein, remove yarn from arm and cut through both ends separating the sides to make 2 groups of 35 strands. Makes 70 strands approx. 15” long. NOTE: For long pigtails, do this twice and cut through one end, not both.
Make Bangs:
Count rows from the last one upward toward the top of the hat. Locate the front, center of the hat and tie the strands or “latchhook” them around the hdcs in the front of the hat by holding the strand in front, pulling up the center of the strand as a loop and pulling both ends through the loop.
3rd row up- 36 strands across (2 strands in each of 18 stitches)
4th row up- 17 strands across (1 in each)
Make Pigtails:
Make a tassel from one side using a strand to tightly tie around center and tie to top or sides of hat.
Tie an extra strand around the base of the tassel to keep the strands together. Trim and shape bangs, finishing off with ribbons or bows.

Hi! This is adorable. Although, I'm thinking if using this idea for a Thing 1 and 2 wig. Make it in blue, and have the strands all over the whole thing. No pun intended! 🤣 I'm hoping it turns out right. My son's teacher is dressing up as The Car in the Hat, and the students can be the Things. And of course, my son volunteered me to make his wig. I've never made a wig before, so this will be fun! Thanks for the inspiration!
