Have you ever lost luggage or accidentally left something behind during one of these trips? The last thing you want is to lose your yarn or have the box smashed by the airlines. I know they are very careful, but wouldn't you rather carry on just one or two skeins instead of 15 or granny squares you are sewing together for your great aunt?

Relax! Ship it!
We tend to do family reunions around the holidays and instead of filling the car with my yarn or worrying what the airlines will do with it, I ship it to my destination. Saves me TONS of hassle and reduces stress.

What other tips can you think of to help reduce stress?

Amber Cassandra Crouch says, “I love 31 gifts. I have several different bags and pouches that I use for traveling. which one(s) I use depends on where im traveling and what I'm working on. One of my favorite bags to use is the organizing utility tote. The pockets around the outside are great for hooks, scissors (i found some with a cap so no worries of poking holes), and my small box of safety pins and sewing needle. I've been known to toss my wallet and phone in there and leave the purse behind.

Robyn Thornton says, “I keep small items (stitch markers, yarn needle, thread, safety pins, small scissors) in an old pill bottle with the label removed.”

Excellent tips! Keep them coming, please. Feel free to add to the comments section and I'll copy them here as well.

I once shipped a box to a crochet conference with some work I needed to get done and I put a flattened prepaid box inside so I could ship it back easily. :-)

Well, now if that isn't the most brilliant thing I've heard, I don't know what is! Thanks, Kim!

What a wonderful idea. I am always bringing tons of yarn with me when I go to visit my family and then have to worry about what is going to happen to it. This way I can send most of it ahead (just keeping what I know I can work on while we travel) and finish my projects when I arrive!

Absolutely. Exactly why I do. :)
