Crochet Baby Dress Pattern

Now, I do have to say, this dress is similar to Pretty, Pretty Princess crochet baby dress pattern in the fact that it uses the same reversible bodice and straps.

Here is a Construction and Alteration Tips Video for at-a-glance. It is from another dress constructed in the same manner. (Also, there is a video for FHDC)

Notes –
This pattern is worked from the top down. Rows 1, 4, 7, and 10 are buttonhole rows so instruction will be slightly different within each row. The bodice is worked back and forth in rows. The skirt is worked in rounds without turning. Straps are worked separately in rows and sewn on. Beginning chain in each row counts as a stitch. This dress is designed in such a way that you may choose to make the next size up and place the buttons wherever you need them to allow for another year or two of wear. Shell stitch is multiples of 6.

Notes from pattern tester –
“The buttons in the back for the straps are approximately one and a half inches from the middle seam. I put the buttons in the back so the child would not be able to unbutton them while they were wearing the dress. About one-third of the strap is inside the dress before I buttoned it, I could have criss-crossed the back for buttoning, but because I only had one button to secure the strap to it pulled significantly at that one button. Attaching the straps in the front I should have moved them closer to the center of the dress in the front, but they will work just fine where they are.”

Use long tails to sew straps to bodice at each marker. You can choose to have row 2 of the strap  face towards the neck opening or towards the shoulder on each strap. You can also adjust the neck  depth as desired by sewing the straps slightly further down into the bodice. Be sure to repeat the  same adjustments on both straps.

Weave in all ends.

Turn dress right side out.
