Tiny Towels crochet pattern

Tiny Towels crochet pattern

These Tiny Towels not only make incredibly handy washcloths for your home, but they make wonderful baby shower gifts. Crochet them day and night or in your sleep. They are so simple, you only have to count the first row of stitches. One friend of mine made these as reusable baby wipes and laundered them with her cloth diapers. Isn't that clever, environmental sane, and thrifty?

I've made nearly 60 of these towels over the last handful of years and they are quite sturdy. My son prefers them over traditional washcloths. Now give it a try! Hope you love them as much as we do. (Approximately 4.5″ wide and long.)

Abbreviations:

ch- chain
hdcbl- half double crochet, back loop
hdcfl- half double crochet, front loop
st- stitch
sts- stitches

Materials:

Cotton
H/5mm hook
Scissors
Yarn Needle

You’ll see I’m using an I-hook in the photos, but those came out too loose once they got wet. If you crochet loosely, I recommend a G-hook so your fingers don’t slip through the tiny towels' stitches once they get wet.

R1:  ch17, starting in 2nd ch from hook hdcfl across, ch1, turn (16sts)

R2-8:  *hdcbl, hdcfl* (repeat * to * across), ch1 turn (16sts)

R9:  *hdcbl, hdcfl* (repeat * to * across), fasten off, sew in the ends. (16sts)

Repeat as many times as you need for a lovely collection.

Hi! These look cute - want to try them. Can you tell me what size they are. I'm a tight crocheter and just wondered what size they are to make sure I'm in the ballpark so to speak. Many thanks for sharing your pattern and your talent.

Hi, Helen! They are approximately 4.5" wide and long. I'll be sure to add it to the description. (Not sure why it wasn't in there.) Thanks!
