Striped Stash Buster crochet Blanket pattern

Striped Stash Buster crochet Blanket pattern

When I started this Striped Stash Buster crochet Blanket pattern, I wanted something handsome for my son's room. He'd just turned 4 and was ready to graduate from the toddler decor and I was definitely excited about that. One thing I wasn't ready to do was dish out the cash for yarn.

Fortunately, a friend of mine had just destashed and I gladly took several trash bags full off her hands. Going through the yarn, I knew it would be known as the Blanket of Many Colors. There were several balls of scrap and most were not labeled, but those that were appeared to be vintage yarns with price tags from Woolworth at $1.27. I must admit I loved that! That being said, I can only guide colors and not make official recommendations. This is where your creativity comes in!

When I started it, he had a full sized bed, but as his furniture grew and his toy stash grew, we went to a twin so this was much more manageable. The length of his completed blanket is the width for a full sized bed, but can also fit a queen. Double the number of rows and you have a full sized cover.

Love this pattern idea for a stash buster. But one thing I am not sure about. Why did you use an L hook? Did you use double strands of ww yarn ? Or did you use chunky yarn? This pattern is certainly making me excited for an easy stash buster. Thank you! Edith

This is an excellent project to get rid of leftover yarn, thanks for sharing! I have more yarn stash bigger than my account in the bank Lol... so this coming weekend will be busy.Hugs!

This may seem like a silly question, but, are the sc above each other and the hdc above each other or do they alternate?

Hi, Barbara

If I am understanding your question correctly, they don't necessarily stack on top of the exactly same stitch of the previous row. They do stagger a little bit as the stitches lay down naturally.

I'm a little afraid – aren't the 145 sts few for a big afghan? What do you think? Love Marianne
