Lil Pumpkin Patch Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

Lil Pumpkin Patch Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

With this lil pumpkin patch amigurumi crochet pattern, you can now “grow” your very own pumpkin patch as a Halloween decoration or Thanksgiving decoration. No need to worry about the drought. All you need is orange, green, and polyfill.

The pumpkin patch can be used with your runners to decorate your dining table for Thanksgiving, hang with your window treatment, or playtime. Make these vines as long as you wish! The larger pumpkin pictured is about 2″ high and the medium sized ones are about 1″. The “baby” pumpkins are approx. 1/2″.

I used to sell the Hallie Kitten and Lil Pumpkin Patch together. Aren't they precious?!

The patterns are separate.

 Lil Pumpkin Patch Pattern

Materials:

Lion Brand Vanna's Choice – Terra Cotta for pumpkins
Lion Brand Vanna's Choice – Olive for vines and leaves
Sugar n Cream – Yellow/White for flowers
Clover F-hook
Scissors
Yarn Needle
Small amount of Polyfill or scrap yarn for stuffing
Glue- to secure the knot on the flowers- not necessary unless it will be a play toy or using slick yarn

Tips for making amigurumi: When working up amigurumi, the stitches should be tight in order to contain the polyfill. You will stuff the critters pretty tightly by using rolled up, small pieces of polyfill to really get it firm and it doesn’t lose its shape.

Abbreviations:

ch- chain
sk- skip
sc- single crochet
st- stitch
sl st- slip stitch
sts- stitches
inc- increase (2 sts in same st)
dec- decrease (same as 2tog / 2 sts completed together to form one st- explanation to follow)
* * – anything between the asterisks is a sequence that is repeated. The direction that follows should tell you how many times to equal how many stitches.
xs- times (5xs is how many times you repeat the sequence.)

How to decrease stitch (abbr.“dec”): This is otherwise known as “sc2tog” and here are those instructions. Insert hook into st, yarn over and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st, yarn over and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook. That is one decrease.

Large Pumpkin:

R1: ch2, sc6 in 2nd ch from hook
R2: 2sc in each st around
R3: *sc, inc* (back loop only- repeating from * to * around)
R4: *2sc, inc* (repeat from * to * around)
R5-8: sc around (stuff as you close it up)
R9: *dec, 2sc* (repeat from * to * around)
R10: *dec, sc* ( repeat from * to * around)
R11: sc around, join in green leaving the tail sticking out for the tendrils. You will trim and fray this after you have sewn your pieces together and you can see how you want it to look.
R12: dec6 around, sl st closed, ch4, continue straight into the directions for the vine with leaves or cut and leave a tail to sew in for a pumpkin that has been “cut” off the vine. (directions for vine follow)

Vine with leaves:

Here you are either continuing from a chain at the end of a pumpkin or sprout or you are starting a new vine to join in. Once you join in, allow the tail to stick out and you can trim it and fray it for the tendrils.
ch 16, *sk2, sl st into 3rd ch from hook, sl st into next st*, ch5, repeat from * to * once, ch10, repeat from * to * once more, ch3, fasten off, leaving tail for sewing. You now know how to make the leaves and approximately how many chains it takes to leave space in between. You may vary this however you wish and make them however long you want them!

Small Pumpkin:

R1: ch2, sc8 in 2nd ch from hook
R2: 2sc in ea around
R3: (back loop only) sc around
R4: sc1 (back loop on first st of previous row), sc around (both loops)
R5: sc around (stuff as you close it)
R6: *dec, sc2* (repeat from * to * around)
R7: *dec, sc* (repeat from * to * around), join green leaving the tail out if you want tendrils
R8: (using green) dec4
R9: sc into next (if you have the space to make it possible) then continue straight into directions for the vine with leaves

Sprouts:

R1: ch2, sc5 in 2nd chain from hook
R2: 2sc in ea st around
R3: sc around (stuff as you close it)
R4: dec6 around, joining green to sl st closed (leaving tail out if you want tendrils) and ch however many you want to attach to the vines.

Flowers:

ch2, sc6 – Fasten off and tie with both tails to the vine, snip the ends, add a dab of glue if you desire. Tie or sew your vines together. There isn’t any need to hide the tails. They look perfect natural trimmed back. Now that you have the basics, you may make this for a dollhouse, mantle, doorway, window, rear view mirror. . . the possibilities are endless. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
