Penelope’s Pretty Petunia Potholder

Sassy up your kitchen with this stunning Penelope’s Pretty Petunia Potholder crochet pattern. You will love it so much, you'll make extras and hang them where they can be visible from every angle of the kitchen. (Maybe even catch a glimpse from the dining room?)

Penelope’s Pretty Petunia Potholder crochet pattern works up a double-sided potholder for twice the protection. At this size, it will even work well as a trivet to protect your table or counters.

You may be stopping in from the American Crochet Holiday Blog Hop 2016 so you'll see a list of those links below; but I wanted to tell you a little tidbit about this pattern. Inspired by Sylvia of All Sylvia's creations on Etsy, this pattern was written up as quickly as I could schedule it! She had been using my Easy, Pretty, and Free Crochet Flower Pattern with bonus Headband pattern to sell in her Etsy shop and one day she just kept going. She was so kind to say she wanted to share exactly how she did it with you all! After sending me her all notes, my tech editor helped me modify it and write it out.

Lfpdc – long front post double crochet
Inc – increase (2 of the stitch worked into the same stitch)
St/Sts – stitch/stitches

Special Stitches: Lfpdc – long front post double crochet is worked around the post of the stitch directly below from Round 1. If you’re following the pattern correctly, you will notice that it works out to be every other stitch in Round 1.

Pattern Notes:  Beginning chain counts as a stitch for front of pot holder. Beginning chain does NOT count as a stitch for back of pot holder. Front piece is worked flat, in the round. Back piece is worked back and forth in rows. Working in the space – when the instructions say to work in the space, you are working in the space BETWEEN the stitches of the previous round, not in the actual stitches themselves.

Been crocheting for over 50 yrs. Have had some problems with your Penelopes Petunia Potholder pattern ... here is one of them: Round 6: Chain 1, sc in same stitch, sc 5, 2 sc in chain-3 space, * sc 6, 2 sc in chain-3 space, repeat from * 4 times, slip stitch to 1st sc – 48 sts Round 7: Chain 1, sc in same stitch as chain, sc 4, hdc 3, [dc 2, ch 2, dc 2] in chain-2 space, hdc 3, * sc 5, hdc 3, (dc 2, chain 2, dc 2) in chain-2 space, hdc 3, repeat from * 2 times, slip stitch to 1st st – 60 sts

In rnd 7 I am instructed to work in a ch2 space that was not created in the previous rnd..... Did someone test this pattern for you..have you made any adjustments.....? I love the final product but am spending way too much time trying to figure out what you mean.... HELP!

Hi, Linda! My tech writer got back to me. I'm so sorry about that. It was a typo and has since been corrected. I'll verify everything when I become available over the next few days. Thank you so much for letting me know!
