Blankets are a necessary part of life. So, you might as well have one you like. The little ripple crochet baby blanket is sweet and simple. It would be a great present for a newborn.

Baby blankets are often the first object a baby touches. They get swaddled up in one right after they’re born. For this reason, I always recommend making easy crochet baby blankets for hospitals to keep on hand.

This baby blanket is a standard size, perfect for wrapping up a little one, but big enough for a crib.

It’s made with the crochet ripple stitch; a textural and elegant crochet stitch. If you're interested in learning more fun and interesting crochet stitches that you can swap out in blanket patterns or any other project check out my Ultimate Crochet Stitch Library. I teach you step by step how to make 45 crochet stitches!

The baby blanket crochet pattern is made out of Berroco Comfort yarn. It’s a machine washable acrylic nylon blend. It’s soft and easy to care for. Perfect for snuggling up.

I’m not sure if my page just didn’t load correctly or what but I am not seeing how many chains to start off with.

@Suzi, Hi, here you have to chain 108 +3 to turn if you're following the pattern exactly (or chain multiples of 12+3 to adjust the width). Hope that helps !

Hi Suzi, the starting chain is 3 using the green colored yarn. You may need to clear your browser's cache and refresh the page, if you still can't find it.

Thank you for this perfect blanket. My Grand-daughter was born just a few days ago and I have been struggling to find a blanket pattern that captured my heart and that I feel is easy enough to follow. It has been decades since I did anything in crochet other than a few here's how swatches. My stitches look pretty good now (they were awful when I first attempted a short time ago, thanks to you and your wonderful instructions), so I am hopeful that it will turn out looking reasonably decent. Thank you again and HAPPY HOLIDYS TO YOU and Yours. Love Great Grand Ma, Sam

@Merna, Hi, in case you're still looking for an answer, you need to chain multiples of 12 to adjust the width of your blanket +3 chains to turn. Hope that helps !
