When I started cleaning out my tote, I realized I was cramming it full of things I don’t need and haven’t used since throwing them to sit at the bottom of my bag for the past six months. So, I decided to downsize with this super cute color pop crochet clutch bag.  It’s the absolute perfect size for all of my essentials and doesn’t leave any room for me to carry around extra, unneeded items.

It’s made with a blend of 50% cotton, 50% acrylic yarn so it’s easy to care for and is machine wash and dryer safe. Plus, that Raspberry color is such a rich, luxurious shade for Fall, I couldn’t resist it.

Skill Level: Easy 

Materials: 

Hook: Size H/8/5 mm crochet hook 

Yarn: Worsted weight yarn 

• 25 yds red (A) 
• 75 yds grey (B) 

Notions: 

• Scissors 
• Tapestry needle 

Size: Width – 7”, Height 5”, Wrist strap length – 9.5” 

Gauge: 4” = 12 sc x 15 rows

The pattern

Bag: 

With A, ch 30, leaving a long starting tail. 

Row 1 (WS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (29 sc) 

Rows 2-6: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. 

Change to B. Fasten off A. 

Rows 7-27: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. 

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. 

Fold bag in half widthwise, with right sides together. 

Sew along side and bottom edges, using long tails of the matching color for each section.

Flap 

With A, ch 12, leaving a long starting tail. 

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. (11 sts) 

Rows 2-6: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. 

Change to B, fasten off A. 

Rows 7-27: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. 

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. 

Cut yarn leaving a long tail. 

Use tails to sew flap onto one side of bag opening. 

Wrist Strap

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. 

Fold strap in half and use tail to sew to corner of bag. 

Weave in all ends.
