Easy Blanket Wrap Crochet Pattern

Easy Blanket Wrap Crochet Pattern

This elegant, easy crochet blanket wrap has me feeling some type of way!

The wrap crochet pattern has a wonderfully classy and modern feel that has made it a staple in my wardrobe as of late.

I wanted a layer that was lightweight yet warm crochet accessory, and that could be worn a couple of different ways, and this Easy Blanket Wrap is perfect.

It can be worn belted around like a cozy crochet sweater top, or unwrapped like a light shawl.

I also used the Herringbone stitch which is such an elegant and beautiful crochet stitch that gives this shawl a tight-knit texture and definition that’s hard to resist.

This sweet wrap is made with Cascade 220 which is perfect for this wrap because it’s 100% wool.

Cascade 220 has yarn plenty of durability and warmth, which is perfect for this cute Fall layer, and it’s easy to clean which means you can take this wrap everywhere without fear of it getting dirty. Plus, Cascade 220 is very affordable, which is a perk since you need 8 skeins of it for this crochet pattern. I love the deep burgundy red, but you could make this in any color you’d like.  Cascade has tons of neutrals too if that’s more your style.

PATTERN:

Ch 91, hhdc in the 2nd ch from hook, and in each ch across.

Rows 2-56: Ch 1, hhdc in the first st, and in each st across.

Row 57: Place the st marker in the 45th st. hhdc to the st marker, ch 1 turn

Rows 58-112: hhdc in each st across. Ch 1, turn

At the end of row 112, break yarn and reattach in the st next to the base of row 58, working from the center to the edge, repeating rows 58-112 on the other half of the work.

Finishing and assembly:

Fold the work with right sides facing, with the front and back pieces lining up at the bottom. Starting 9” from the top of the shoulder, whip st sides together. Either using a knitting nancy or the method described in the special stitch section, create a 60” I cord for the belt, and two 3” I cord loops for belt loops, leaving an 8” tail on each I cord. Turn the wrap right side out, and measure 7” from below the bottom of the arm opening. Use the tails of the 3” I cord to stitch in place. Weave in all ends, and thread the belt through the loops.

I’m so happy with the way this Easy Crochet Blanket Wrap turned out, and it looks a lot more complicated than it is.

The simple square shape and the fact that it uses the Herringbone stitch almost exclusively makes this an ideal first garment for all levels.

Make this for your own closet or as a gift for the classiest lady in your life.  It’s guaranteed to be well-loved either way.
