Materials: 

Yarn: 560 yds worsted weight yarn 

Hook: Size J/10/6.0 mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge 

Notions: 

  • Yarn needle 
  • Scissors 

Size: Approximately 57” wide x 32” tall – can be made to any size. 

Gauge: 14 dc x 7 rows = 4 inches

Pattern

Ch 4, join with sl st to first ch to form a loop. 

Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in loop. (6 dc, 1 ch-3 space) 

Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as dc and ch-1 throughout), turn, dc in first st, ch 1, sk next st, dc in next st, ch 1, (dc, ch 3, dc) in ch-3 space, ch 1, dc in next st, ch 1, sk next st, (dc, ch 1, dc) in last st. (8 dc, 6 ch-1 spaces, 1 ch-3 space)

Row 3: Ch 4, turn, dc in first st, [ch 1, dc in next dc] across to ch-3 space, ch 1, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in ch-3 space, [ch 1, dc in next dc] across to last dc, ch 1, (dc, ch 1, dc) in last dc. (14 dc, 10 ch-1 spaces, 1 ch-3 space) In rows 4-9, the stitch count increases by 6 dc and 4 ch-1 spaces each row.

Rows 4–9: Repeat Row 3. (50 dc, 34 ch-1 spaces, 1 ch-3 space) 

Row 10: Ch 4, turn, dc in first st, [ch 1, dc in next dc] across to ch-3 space, ch 1, (dc, ch 3, dc) in ch-3 space, [ch 1, dc in next dc] across to last dc, ch 1, (dc, ch 1, dc) in last dc. (54 dc, 38 ch-1 spaces, 1 ch-3 space) 

Repeat Row 10 for an additional 40 rows (for listed size), or to desired length. The stitch count will increase by 4 dc and 4 ch-1 sps on each row. 

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful design. It is very similar to another that I made using the V-stitch instead of the straight double crochet. That design called for a change of color. I'm making this one with the black velvet yarn and Lion Brand's gold velvet yarn. Should be striking! Thanks again!
