First and foremost, you will need a towel to add your topper to. Thinner towels made from woven material are the easiest to work with, since you will need to be able to pierce the fabric to make a foundation for your stitches.
You’ll also need a needle that’s sharp enough to go through the towel easily to make the foundation stitches you will crochet from.
You’ll also need the yarn you want to use to crochet your towel topper. Most of the patterns here use worsted weight yarn. Cotton is a great choice because it is absorbent if you wipe your hands on it, and it’s machine washable, so you don’t have to do anything special to get your towels clean.
